Here is some additional information that might help you understand the product.Img13.png

Look at the last part of this information on applications in gardens.

You will find this product works better in tube type feeders, in tray feeders the powder tends to sift under the seeds and the squirrels use this to their advantage. The tips help because one of them is to use a small amount of salad oil which makes the seeds sticky and stick to the squirrel. The birds to not taste the powder so they don’t know it’s there. If you don’t have birds at the present time it’s because the feeder was empty and they have not come back. Birds also move around to get a diverse diet and due to environmental factors that have nothing to due with the squirrel away product they may be absent from the feeder. They will be back; we have never had a case of birds being repelled by the product. Stick with it and use the seed you have.

No it is not possible for the powder to discourage birds and we have sold over 2 million packages. If the feeders were empty from the squirrels before it will take time for them to come back. That is totally normal and I would not worry about that at all. The number one question ask by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology is

“Where did my birds go” they migrate around to get a variety in diet.

It is possible that your squirrels did not want to break off feeding right away and we have to consider that possibility. We have been selling squirrel away for 10 years and continue to get letters and calls regarding how well it works. But in a small number of cases due to environmental variables, which can be many in a normal bird, feeding situation it can take longer to work. This sometimes leaves the person who purchased our product with the idea that it does not work at all and never has. We are sorry if this has happened to you but we would like to help you and try to correct the problem.

We will send you another large package and some excellent supplemental directions with some tips that have taken the small percentage of customers and made them happy users of our product. Let's hope that is the outcome in your case also.

Pleas send your complete name and address to us.

Below are the tips if you want to try some of these in you situation.

So that Squirrel Away™ will be a complete success in your feeder; we would like to offer some helpful hints to discourage the squirrels from coming to your feeder.

Squirrels are creatures of habit and our task is to break their habit of raiding the bird feeder.  The key to breaking the cycle is to make sure the concentration of SQUIRREL AWAY™ is high and uniform throughout the feed.  The squirrel must be able to taste and smell the powder.

Certain flat or mesh bottom feeders that allow the powder to sift off the seed can be a problem when birds or squirrels agitate the feeding area.  This results in a low concentration of powder on the seed and the squirrels will seize the opportunity to eat as much seed as possible in a short period of time.  Our best results have been obtained with a tube-type feeder or a hopper-type feeder.

Using ALL sunflower seed or seed that has lower oil content on the surface of the hull can be a problem.    The powder may not adhere as well on a dry seed, resulting in a lower concentration of SQUIRREL AWAY™.

Try this suggestion:

Mix only five pounds of seed at a time!     Mix the seed well with several one or two second sprays of a non-stick vegetable spray, or two teaspoons of cooking oil before applying the SQUIRREL AWAY™.  Mix the powder one teaspoonful at a time, taking care to mix thoroughly.    ALLOW TREATED SEED TO SIT 20 MINUTES BEFORE FILLING FEEDER.

If you have a persistent squirrel that eats the treated seed anyway - your birdfeeder may be dusted with a bit of SQUIRREL AWAY™.  It is very important that squirrels SMELL the SQUIRREL AWAY™ as well as TASTE the SQUIRREL AWAY™.

Squirrel Away wishes you HAPPY BIRD WATCHING!    Please give us a call if you   have problems making SQUIRREL AWAY™ work for you.
